APM Terminals Pipavav is certified as Authorized Economic Operator for Logistic & Terminal Operators

APM Terminals Pipavav’s effort to enhance smooth cargo movement received a major boost, with company receiving certificate for Authorized Economic Operator for Logistic & Terminal Operators (AEO-LO).  With APM Terminals Pipavav being AEO LO certified, its Exim customers can opt for AEO T3 certification and avail many benefits including preferential treatment by Customs, zero container scanning (except on specific intelligence), no requirement of bank guarantee amongst others.

The AEO certification improves speed of the entire transaction in a transparent manner. It provides tangible benefits in the form of faster customs clearances and simplified customs procedures business entities who require a high degree of security guarantees. With AEO being a global program, the accreditation/ certifications are standardized, enabling secure supply chains to be established, from origin to destination.

The World Customs Organization had in June 2005 adopted the SAFE Framework of Standards to secure and facilitate global trade with a view to secure the international supply chain. Since then, this unique international instrument has ushered in modern supply chain security standards with assistance from closer partnership between customs and business in the form of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program, which constitutes one of the three pillars on which SAFE Framework rests.
