Avashya Foundation launches RAHAT “JAL HAI TO KAL HAI” Initiative in Osmanabad District of Maharashtra

Aims to provide 40,000 liters water every day in Erla and Kolewadi villages in Osmanabad

Allcargo Logistics’ CSR arm, Avashya Foundation through its RAHAT initiative has recently launched a drought relief project ‘JAL HAI TO KAL HAI’ for supporting victims of drought in northern Maharashtra by deploying a tanker in collaboration with district administration of Osmanabad.
Avashya foundation has laid down short term and long term drought mitigation plan under RAHAT. As a short term measure, Avashya Foundation has deployed a tanker providing 40,000 liters of drinking water every day to two villages in Osmanabad district namely Erla and Kolewadi. And as part of long term measure, Avashya Foundation has undertaken water conservation work in Kolewadi village. The Water conservation work is undertaken to revive natural streams and make the village self-reliant for its water needs. The initiative would conserve over 1.2 Cr liters of water by involving local communities and farmers.
As a supporting initiative under RAHAT, streams and ponds would be desilted. The foundation in collaboration with local farmers would spread fertile soil in the local agricultural field to increase crop productivity.
The Avashya Foundation has been supporting various activities to bring about social development in the society. It has also been responsive to disaster situation through RAHAT, dedicated to disaster relief in the past. It has contributed to series of disaster relief interventions in Bihar, Nepal, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. These initiatives support the company’s approach “JAL HAI TO KAL HAI”.
Commenting on the occasion, Arathi Shetty, Non-Executive Director, Allcargo Logistics said: “We have always strived to bring about inclusive development with our initiatives, which contribute towards the realization of our social duties. We feel extremely happy to be able to support drought victims in Osmanabad. Our initiative has been well accepted by the locals, Gram Panchayat as well as the district administration and we extend our gratitude for collaborating on JAL HAI TO KAL HAI project.”
