Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has placed orders with Cochin Shipyard for procuring six new vessels that can run on methanol. Methanol significantly reduces emissions of nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides and particulate matter, and is complaint with the emission norms for the shipping industry worldwide post-2020.
