[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House (JNCH), Nhava Sheva has decided to consider Direct Port Delivery (DPD) permission for all such importers who are manufacturers, registered IPR holders provided their bulk of import is in FCL (Full Container Load) and is being facilitated by RMS, i.e. no examination, no assessment. This follows the assessment that DPD has considerably reduced the time and cost for importers, JNCH said in a public notice.

Accordingly, manufacturers and registered IPR holders have been requested to apply for DPD facility at the DPD Cell, AM (I), 7th floor, JNCH immediately.

Other conditions as mentioned in the Public Notice No. 161/2016 dated November 28, 2016 will remain same and applicable to these importers, the notice added.

As per JN Port figures, Direct Port Delivery of import containers increased from 3 per cent in November 2016 to 15 per cent in March 2017. Importers are currently benefited by savings in cost of Rs 8,000-20,000 and time savings of average 5 days while clearing under DPD. Waiver of minimum volume criteria, online registration, abolition of deposits and awareness campaigns have increased the DPD clearances to 15 per cent. With initiatives like the proposed transport solution, the percentage is expected to move towards the target of 40 per cent.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
