The main objective of this project includes contributing to reduction in carbon emissions and consequently improving environment besides reducing cost of power purchased from grid by utilization of solar power for power generation.

The 822 KWp project covering Rooftop solar installation at JNPT Hospital- 234 kW, St. Mary School- 45.6 kW, IES School- 36 kW, Officer’s club-30KW, staff club- 20KW, Multipurpose hall-40KW, shopping complex-126KW in the township, Port User Building (PUB)- 96 kW and Administration Building- 175 KWp is installed at an expense of Rs 4.5 crore, supported by a 15% subsidy from SECI (part of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy).

The total 822 KWp will generate around 9.0 lakh units of electricity annually contributing to 80% of approximate present consumption of these premises, thereby saving around Rs.1.26 crore of electricity expense for JNPT in the first year itself.
