Capt. Anil Singh, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World Subcontinent, has been reappointed as the India Brand Ambassador for Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA).

Ms. Sanjam Sahi Gupta, President of WISTA India said, “A WISTA ambassador is a person who is committed to promoting our key goals and objectives, and encourages the advancement of women in the maritime industry. Mr. Singh has been a strong advocate and an influencing mentor for the empowerment of women in a male-dominated sector, and we highly appreciate his continued support.”

Anil Singh, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World Subcontinent said, “As a WISTA Brand Ambassador, it has been encouraging to observe a paradigm shift in attitudes towards women in the maritime industry. I have witnessed many skilled, motivated women working successfully alongside their male counterparts and eventually taking on leadership roles. At DP World, we are proud of the part we have played in ensuring that anyone who is passionate about the maritime sector, be it a man or a woman, is welcomed and given equal opportunity to learn and succeed. We have also partnered with Narottam Morarjee Institute of Shipping to sponsor the education of women who wish to build their career in the maritime industry. Furthermore, WISTA has facilitated mentoring and awareness programmes to shed light on the various growth opportunities available in this erstwhile male-dominated sector. I am honoured to be reappointed as India Brand Ambassador for WISTA, and will continue to support women in the maritime industry.”

DP World is committed to empowering women in the Ports and Shipping industry across geographies. In the Subcontinent region, DP World has doubled female headcount in the last 3 years through various innovative solutions of creating a talent pipeline at the entry level, recruiting girls in operational areas like gate staff and engineering, and by establishing women Board of Directors to drive the agenda of Diversity.

WISTA is a global organisation for women in the maritime industry. The organisation was formed 42 years ago with 6 women from 3 European countries. Currently, over 3000 members worldwide in 40 countries are a part of WISTA. Through WISTA, women are able to promote and facilitate education for women in the industry, exchange contacts and experiences, and liaise with recognised institutions worldwide.
