Maersk Line launches enhanced MESAWA service

  • The two new weekly service offerings will be  (I) MESAWA for West and South Africa market  (II) PROTEA catering directly to the South African market
  • First sailing from Mundra and Nhava Sheva of these two services will begin on the 29th of May, and will sail as two separate direct loops to cover West and South Africa
  • The weekly MESAWA service connects North – West India via Nhava Sheva and Mundra and South –East India & Sri Lanka via Colombo into West Africa
  • Tema port call is added to the MESAWA rotation, improving the product through direct coverage, catering to both imports and exports
  • From the North and West India, the weekly Protea service connects from Mundra and INJHT directly to Durban and Reunion
  • Reefer customers will greatly benefit from reduced best-in-class transit times from South Africa to Middle East

Maersk Line, the global containerized division of the Maersk Group has announced two services 1. The enhanced MESAWA Service with direct call into Tema to cover West and South Africa market and 2.  The PROTEA service, a new direct service to cover India to South Africa and Indian Ocean Islands. The first call from Mundra and Nhava Sheva will commence from 29th of May 2017.

While the enhanced weekly MESAWA Service will cover India to West Africa, the service will also carry South Africa cargo from South and East India.
The new weekly PROTEA service will directly cover India to South Africa and Indian Ocean Islands. The combined products will offer two weekly sailings to South Africa from India.

A Tema port call which is being added to the MESAWA rotation will cater to our export and import customers. Our Reefer customers will also greatly benefit from direct coverages to these markets.”

Dedicated weekly service connecting South Africa and Indian Ocean Islands
From North-West India, Protea connects from Mundra and Nhava Sheva directly to Durban and Reunion
From South and East India, MESAWA connects ex- Colombo directly to Durban and Port Elizabeth
Fixed berthing windows in Durban and Port Elizabeth
