Mr Ravi Kant, a 1984 batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, has been appointed as the new Secretary, Ministry of Shipping. He replaces Mr Rajive Kumar, IAS (UP, 1981) who has been repatriated to his parent cadre.
Just prior, he was Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, and earlier Joint Secretary with the Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence.
Mr Ravi Kant has been working in the South Block since August 2013.
