[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]• First ever export shipment to be moved on River Sea Vessels also known as barges – Opens up a cost-effective and reliable trade route
• Two 40 HCs apparel shipments on GOH hangers were exported out of Pangaon – the first Inland Container Terminal in Bangladesh
• New phase of strong partnership between Maersk Bangladesh and the local government bodies to promote export trade growth from Bangladesh.

Safmarine, the global containerized division of the Maersk Group, creates history in Bangladesh as it exports shipments out of Pangaon ICT, through River Sea Vessels (RSVs) or barges. This milestone was achieved in association with APL logistics for the movement of apparel shipments with Garments on Hangers (GOH).

Pangaon ICT in Bangladesh has been previously used mainly for imports as the confidence of export customers was low due to the trade route. Bangladesh’s first ever use of River Sea Vessels (RSVs) or barges opens up new routes for exporters in the region, as it is cost effective,  has low lead time and it is more reliable option than the other conventional routes used out of Dhaka, so far. The use of this route also negates the use of the over worked rail and road transport systems to Chittagong.

Commenting on the momentous occasion, Mr Franck Dedenis, Managing Director, Maersk Line (India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) said, “This is a historic moment for the group as well as for EXIM trade in Bangladesh. This export shipment will showcase the country’s renewed focus in promoting import and export in the region. Our focus has always been to enable trade through our increased service offering and be as close to our customers. And we will continue to provide reliable and viable logistical solutions for the customers in the region so that they can reach markets globally. ”

Safmarine’s differentiators at Pangaon ICT:
• Only carrier in Bangladesh having the barge connections at Pangaon ICT
• Fastest transit time from Pangaon ICT to Chittagong port is 48 hours and also gate-in cut-off reduces the lead time to 6 days on barge movements
• Assurance of equipment and space availability
• Wide coverage of the key catchment area to enable both global and local business opportunities to explore the business potential in Bangladesh and other key locations worldwide[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
