V O Chidambaranar Port Trust created a new record by handling 6,200 Metric Tonnes of Oil Cake / Copra from the vessel MV. Chang An Vista on 24.03.2018 surpassing the previous Single Day record of 5,301 Metric Tonnes of Oil Cake / Copra from the vessel MV. Truong Minh Star on 29.04.2016. M/s. Pearl Shipping Agencies Ltd., is the Steamer Agent, M/s. Hari & Co is the Stevedore Agent and KSE ltd., is the consigner.
During the last financial year, V.O.Chidambaranar Port had handled 1,40,880 Metric Tonnes of Oil Cake / Copra and in this year the Port has handled 1,63,686 Metric Tonnes upto February 2018. Mostly, Oil Cake / Copra is being imported from countries like Indonesia, Philliphines and Japan.
Shri I. Jeyakumar, IRTS., Chairman, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust while thanking the stakeholders, officers and the employees of the Port who have contributed to achieve this record, conveyed that this Port is continuously striving to achieve improvement in Performance and productivity in order to attract more volume of traffic through the Port. The Chairman requested all the concerned to continue to improve the performance in future also.
