ACTL Samba successfully received and handled the first-ever rake of steel consigned by Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), the company said on Saturday, marking a notable step for regional rail–port logistics.

The operation involved coordinated scheduling with rail authorities, on‑site supervision by ACTL teams and SAIL representatives, and the use of dedicated material‑handling equipment to unload and marshal the wagons. ACTL said the exercise proceeded without incident and helped minimise dwell time and risk of cargo damage.

Company officials described the movement as validation of ACTL Samba’s capability to handle large industrial consignments and said the experience will help refine procedures ahead of larger-scale bulk operations. Industry sources said successful handling of steel rakes through inland terminals can reduce logistics costs and turnaround times for manufacturers and support regional supply chains.

ACTL indicated the operation is expected to encourage more bulk consignments through the facility, reinforcing its role as a multimodal logistics hub for heavy‑industry cargo in the region.
