Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) reported a 16% year-on-year increase in cargo volumes for August 2025, handling 41.9 MMT. The growth was primarily driven by a 29% surge in container traffic, reinforcing APSEZ’s leadership in port operations and its pivotal role in India’s trade ecosystem.

At its flagship Mundra Port, multiple operational records were set during the month:

  • T2 terminal achieved its highest-ever monthly throughput, handling 1,29,780 TEUs.
  • AMCT (CT2) handled 1,04,793 TEUs across 40 vessels, surpassing its previous best of 1,01,441 TEUs in July 2023.
  • RoRo operations established a new single-day record on August 29 by wharfing 1,460 cars, overtaking the earlier record of 1,435 cars set in March 2025.

Container and rail operations also touched fresh highs. Mundra handled 0.97 lakh outward container TEUs across 756 import rakes, exceeding the earlier record of 0.94 lakh TEUs. Double-stack handling set new benchmarks with 542 import rakes (0.31 lakh TEUs), while total double-stack volumes reached 0.50 lakh TEUs across 885 rakes, surpassing July 2025’s record of 0.46 lakh TEUs.

Across all ports, APSEZ managed 202.6 MMT of cargo in the April–August 2025 period, an 11% year-on-year increase, supported by a 22% rise in container volumes. Logistics operations also grew steadily:

  • Rail volumes rose 8% in August to 57,347 TEUs, with year-to-date volumes up 14% at 2,97,766 TEUs.
  • GPWIS cargo reached 1.69 MMT in August (+3%) and 9.35 MMT year-to-date (+3%).

Beyond operational milestones, Mundra Port continues to hold strategic and economic significance, serving as India’s largest commercial port and a critical gateway for containerized, bulk, and liquid cargo. With integrated rail, road, and pipeline connectivity, the port strengthens hinterland access to global supply chains, reducing logistics costs and enhancing trade competitiveness.
