Kolkata-headquartered Adventz Group, chaired by Saroj Poddar, has announced investments of Rs 1,700 crore in West Bengal across a logistics and warehousing park and a specialized wagon manufacturing facility as investment interest in the state gathers pace.

What are the two projects Adventz is developing?

The investment covers a Rs 1,200 crore logistics and warehousing park at Sankrail, to be developed on 100 acres of land already owned by the group, and a Rs 500 crore plant to manufacture specialized wagon tankers. The Sankrail site benefits from rail and highway connectivity along with access to water and power infrastructure, positioning it to strengthen the state’s logistics and industrial infrastructure.

Who is Adventz partnering with for the wagon manufacturing plant?

For the wagon tanker project, the group has signed a collaboration agreement with Nymwag of Nymburk in the Czech Republic, the third-largest player in the specialised wagon segment in Europe. Adventz is also exploring export opportunities for the facility’s output from India, adding an international dimension to the manufacturing push.

What other business areas is Adventz expanding into?

Beyond these two projects, the group is working on real estate development on land it already holds in the state, along with shopping malls in West Bengal and Kolkata. Adventz has a significant presence in the fertiliser sector through Paradeep Phosphates and is planning investments of Rs 4,000-5,000 crore to double phosphate capacity from 500,000 tonnes to 1 million tonnes, alongside technology initiatives to convert gypsum into sulphur or sulphuric acid.

What new sectors is Adventz entering?

The group is also exploring entry into defence, renewable energy and enterprise AI products, areas it has not previously operated in. In defence, Adventz is examining protection systems for armouries and autonomous vehicles capable of operating on both land and water, with plans to manufacture these domestically to leverage India’s cost advantages. In renewable energy, the group is evaluating investments in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Odisha.

What does this mean for West Bengal’s investment momentum?

The Adventz announcement adds to a broader wave of industrial investment commitments in West Bengal, reflecting growing private sector interest in the state’s logistics, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors as it continues attracting large-scale capital across multiple industries.
