Agartala’s railway station to cut travel time from Northeast to Kolkata by half

The International Railway Station at Agartala will cut the travel time from the North-East to Kolkata by half. It will serve as an economic corridor for Tripura and North-East and catalyse trade and commerce.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, visited the International Railway Station at Charipara near Tripura State capital Agartala and reviewed its progress.

Regarded as an engineering marvel, the International Railway Station at Agartala will cut the travel time from the North-East to Kolkata by half. It will serve as an economic corridor for Tripura and North-East and catalyse economic growth, trade and commerce in the reigion.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, today visited the International Railway Station at Charipara near Tripura State capital Agartala and reviewed its progress.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has redefined the infrastructure landscape all across India, especially in the North-East which in turn is enhancing ease of living and economic opportunities for Tripura and the North Eastern Region.”

He also held a meeting with Sanjoy Chakaraborti, Director, Skill Development, and reviewed the skilling efforts being undertaken in the state. The discussion revolved around challenges with regards to market linkages, opportunities for capacity building.
