All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA), both subsidiaries of the ANA Group, have introduced a new cargo codeshare arrangement covering key routes between Japan, Europe, and North America. The partnership, which commenced yesterday, marks a major step in consolidating the group’s air freight operations.
Under the agreement, ANA’s flight code will now appear on NCA’s Boeing 747 freighter services operating from Narita to major North American hubs — Chicago, New York, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Los Angeles — as well as to key European gateways including Amsterdam, Milan, and Frankfurt. Conversely, NCA’s code will be added to ANA’s Boeing 777 freighter flights from Narita to Chicago and Los Angeles.
According to a joint statement, the collaboration is designed to expand ANA Group’s global cargo network, enhance capacity, and provide customers with greater flexibility and connectivity by combining the strengths of both carriers’ wide-body freighter fleets.
The new partnership follows ANA Holdings’ full acquisition of NCA in early August from NYK Line, which decided to withdraw from the air cargo sector. The integration brings together ANA’s passenger and freighter operations — comprising six Boeing 767Fs and two Boeing 777Fs — with NCA’s fleet of eight Boeing 747Fs, significantly bolstering the group’s overall cargo capability.
Looking ahead, ANA and NCA plan to deepen their cooperation to strengthen the group’s position in the global air freight market. The carriers aim to deliver efficient, high-quality logistics solutions that meet evolving customer demands while supporting ANA Group’s long-term growth strategy.
This development comes shortly after ANA entered another codeshare agreement with Air Incheon in September, covering freighter services between Japan and South Korea to improve regional connectivity and address rising air cargo demand in Northeast Asia.
