Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has reaffirmed his government’s resolve to position the state as a global logistics hub under the Swarnandhra-2047 vision. Speaking at the East Coast Maritime and Logistics Summit, he highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s 1,053 km coastline as a strategic asset that will be fully harnessed to drive maritime trade.
“We are planning a port every 50 km along the coast. AP already has six operational ports and four more under construction, which will be completed by 2046. The goal is to make Andhra Pradesh the logistics leader on the East Coast,” Naidu said.
Underscoring the state’s multimodal strengths, the Chief Minister pointed to robust air, sea, rail, and road connectivity. “Railway infrastructure is highly favourable, and air cargo has immense potential. With strategic corridors like Vizag–Chennai, Chennai–Bengaluru, and Hyderabad–Bengaluru, our market reach extends far beyond Andhra Pradesh,” he noted.
Highlighting AP’s export performance, Naidu said the state leads in pharma and aqua exports, while agriculture exports are expanding rapidly. “We are already the second-largest handler of sea cargo in India. Now, we must strengthen air cargo facilities,” he urged industry participants.
He also stressed Andhra Pradesh’s regional importance. “Telangana has sought a port connection via Machilipatnam. Chhattisgarh depends on Visakhapatnam, and even Maharashtra is keen to link Godavari inland waterways. Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, too, want to connect with AP,” Naidu said.
On sustainability, the Chief Minister said the government is aligning port and logistics development with circular economy principles and net-zero goals, supported by Swachh Bharat and Swachh Andhra initiatives. “With more than 1,500 km of inland waterways, AP has a natural edge in building an integrated logistics ecosystem,” he added.
Naidu proposed the creation of an industry advisory body that would meet biannually to review progress and guide logistics and port policy. “The future holds vast opportunities, particularly in agritech and food processing. Together, let’s make Andhra Pradesh the number one logistics hub in South India,” he concluded.
