Commenting on the occasion, Mr. K S Dabhi, GAS, SDM & Prant Officer, Rajula Block of Amreli District said, “APM Terminals Pipavav’s efforts have been commendable for uplifting the living standards of surrounding villagers through its CSR activities, especially water management. The water management activities have long term implications and leads to the enhancement of socio economic development of the society. Rampura check dam cum walk way will benefit Rampara as well as Kovaya villages, it will lead to two to three crops a year and will further recharge wells”.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ms. Harsha Mashelkar, Head (HR, CSR & Admin), Capt. RavindraNath Pillarisetti, Head (Port – Infra & Development) along with distinguished members of Rampara, Kovaya and surrounding villages.

Project Pravah constitutes a holistic approach associating with all stakeholders through strategic partnerships. The project associates with more than ten organizations, schools, people’s participation & contribution for the sustainability of the project and capacity building of the farmers, villagers & youth. The project works through exposure visits, training sessions and mkrishi software. It aims to address the issue of salinity ingress and ground water contamination with high TDS level. The coastal region of Gujarat has been inherent by salinity of land and its rapid ingress from sea over a period thus depleting natural resources, especially ground water. As a result, saline water has disrupted the normal course of agriculture and lack of healthy drinking water due to high TDS.
