In a major step toward enhancing India’s maritime infrastructure and dredging capacity, BEML Limited and Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) have signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth approximately ₹350 crore during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai.
The agreements were exchanged between Cmdr R.G.K. Rao (Retd.), Head of SBU – Aerospace & Maritime, BEML, and Capt. S. Divakar, Managing Director & CEO, DCIL, in the presence of Shantanu Roy, Chairman & Managing Director, BEML Limited, and Dr. M. Angamuthu, IAS, Chairman, DCIL. The signing ceremony was part of a high-profile MoU session that brought together leading stakeholders from across India’s maritime ecosystem.
The collaboration covers three key areas:
- Supply of indigenous spares for DCIL’s dredger fleet.
- Design and construction of five inland cutter suction dredgers to enhance inland waterway and port maintenance operations.
- Development and supply of cable dredgers, long-reach excavators, and customized dredging equipment to support reservoir de-siltation and inland water transport infrastructure.
Under the partnership, BEML will lead the manufacturing, supply, and lifecycle support of dredgers and associated equipment, while DCIL will manage their deployment and operations across key maritime and inland projects nationwide.
The initiative reflects both organisations’ commitment to advancing Atmanirbhar Bharat, promoting domestic manufacturing, and accelerating the modernisation of India’s port and inland waterway infrastructure through indigenous technology and collaboration.
This latest set of MoUs builds upon an earlier agreement between BEML and DCIL, signed last year, which focused on the indigenous design and development of dredger spare parts—laying a strong foundation for this expanded strategic partnership.
