A major logistics advancement is underway at Machilipatnam Port with the signing of a Quadripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a Real-Time Automatic Cargo Evacuation System, also known as the Enhanced Freight Transport System (e-FTS). The MoU, originally signed on November 9, 2025, was formally exchanged during the Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam.
Under this agreement, the four organisations will work together as a Port Alliance to conceptualise, design, and implement the pilot project. The Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB) will act as the client, while Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) — as the lead partner — along with BEML and UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Ltd (UTIPL) will jointly spearhead execution.
The proposed e-FTS is envisioned to transform cargo evacuation by integrating automation, real-time tracking, and streamlined freight movement. Once implemented, the system is expected to significantly boost operational efficiency and strengthen Machilipatnam Port’s positioning as a technologically advanced, future-ready maritime hub.
This collaboration marks a key milestone in India’s ongoing efforts to modernise port infrastructure, expand multimodal logistics capabilities, and support the nation’s growing economic momentum.
