Bi-train operation is integrated by TecPlata for more effective logistics

On May 20, 2025, Yusen Logistics delivered the first bi-train truck to TecPlata S.A. (TecPlata) International Container port Services, Inc. (ICTSI), the Buenos Aires, Argentina-based business unit that operates the container port at the Port of La Plata.

This bi-train operation, which incorporates modern land transport technologies into the port ecosystem, is a logistics milestone for Argentina. An innovation in the logistics chain is the bi-train, a type of transport truck with two semi-trailers joined by a central axle. Up to 70% more freight may be transported in a single trip with it than with a conventional truck, all while lowering operating costs and having a much smaller environmental impact.

Authorized under stringent rules, this truck layout maximizes long-distance cargo transportation by improving sustainability, safety, and efficiency. Its integration into TecPlata’s operations demonstrates the terminal’s dedication to creating cutting-edge solutions that increase Argentina’s international trade’s competitiveness. 

TecPlata’s versatility and land connectivity are further demonstrated by the bi-train operation, which has direct highway access and the infrastructure required to handle such specialized units without impairing operating flow. 

This project is a component of TecPlata’s larger endeavor to establish an intelligent logistics center in the southern Greater Buenos Aires region, linking importers, exporters, and producers to international markets while adhering to international standards for environmental responsibility, quality, and innovation.
