India’s first luxury cruise terminal witnessed a milestone arrival this morning as Royal Caribbean’s Celebrity Millennium berthed at Mumbai’s Ballard Pier. Although the city has long welcomed international cruise liners, this visit represents a defining first for the newly developed terminal — a clear indication of its rising stature on the global cruising circuit.
Sailing in from Goa at 0600 hours, the 294-metre vessel brought more than 2,100 guests who disembarked in Mumbai, while another 2,087 passengers will join the ship for its onward voyage. With 1,085 cabins and a reputation for refined onboard experiences, Celebrity Millennium is among the most advanced cruise ships to call at India this season.
Passengers were greeted with a streamlined arrival experience featuring curated wayfinding, warm hospitality, and a smooth transition from gangway to the city. Cultural elements, intuitive passenger flow, and a distinctly Mumbai character shaped an arrival that drew widespread praise.
Royal Caribbean noted that it expects to schedule more calls at Ballard Pier, underscoring the terminal’s readiness to handle both transit and turnaround operations. “The difference from our last visit to today is remarkable — a leap of change. The hospitality has been exceptional. We’re looking forward to returning to The Ballard Pier soon. It’s encouraging to see how quickly the cruising experience in Mumbai, and in India overall, is evolving,” said Capt. Pierre Caruana.
