Chhattisgarh has set a new national benchmark by dispatching 12,000 metric tonnes of copper concentrate to China—India’s largest-ever export consignment of the mineral.

The shipment was flagged off from the Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Nava Raipur, underscoring the state’s rising prominence in the country’s industrial and logistics ecosystem. According to senior officials, the achievement reflects both Chhattisgarh’s mineral strength and its expanding role as a global trade facilitator.

The first rake, loaded with 2,200 metric tonnes, reached Visakhapatnam Port and sailed for China on November 11, with subsequent rakes being dispatched in phases.

Officials said the development positions Chhattisgarh as an emerging logistics hub, enabled by the Nava Raipur MMLP—an advanced facility developed under the Department of Industries. The park features integrated rail links, high-speed cargo movement systems and modern handling infrastructure, allowing industries nationwide to access global markets more cost-effectively.

Chhattisgarh’s mineral sector continues to gain national attention. The state is India’s sole producer of tin, accounting for 100% of domestic output and about 36% of the country’s tin ore reserves, concentrated mainly in Dantewada and Sukma. Tin is vital for electronics, defence systems, solar technologies and precision engineering, giving Chhattisgarh a strategic position in high-tech value chains.

The state’s mining revenues have risen dramatically—from ₹429 crore in 2000 to ₹14,592 crore today, a 34-fold increase—with the sector now contributing nearly 10% to the Gross State Domestic Product.

To accelerate this trajectory, the government recently unveiled the Chhattisgarh State Logistics Policy 2025, which aims to transform the state into a leading logistics and industrial hub by 2047. The policy prioritises multimodal infrastructure, export promotion, private-sector participation and employment generation.

With modern infrastructure, supportive policies and robust mineral resources, officials said Chhattisgarh is on track to become a major force in India’s logistics landscape and a competitive player in global trade.
