Chittagong Port in its facelift drive is installing new equipment. These consist of four critical gantry cranes worth Taka 2.4 billion, six rubber tyred gantry cranes worth Taka 700 million, four reach stackers, four variable reach trucks, two container movers, two mobile cranes with a capacity of 100 tonnes each, and two mobile cranes with a capacity of 50 tonnes each.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury recently inaugurated the equipment received by the port.

The procurements are a component of an ongoing initiative aiming to bring in 104 machinery items from various nations, including China, Germany, Finland, Belgium, and France.

In 2019, a budget of Taka 9.1 billion was allocated for the equipment import initiative.

This initiative will result in the arrival of 30 additional pieces of equipment at the port by December.
