CMA CGM will roll out a new service, KILIMA, in August 2025 to enhance connectivity and reliability along Asia–East Africa trade corridors. The weekly standalone service will provide direct sailings from China to Kenya and Tanzania, with the inaugural call scheduled at Mombasa on 24 August.
The service will leverage Singapore as a transhipment hub, ensuring access to a wide network of Asian ports. Cargo from India’s east coast will be connected via Colombo, which will also act as a relay point for Male through the MALE SHUTTLE, set to depart on 25 August.
From Mombasa, CMA CGM’s network will extend to Zanzibar, Tanga, Longoni and Tamatave via the KARIBU service, while Port Victoria, Mogadishu, Nacala and the Comoros will be linked through Lamu via the NOURA and KARIBU services. Inland connections will also reach Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The launch comes as CMA CGM continues to strengthen its East Africa footprint, following the recent announcement of an upgrade to its NEFWI (PCRF) service, effective January 2026.
