CONCOR Inaugurates First Domestic Container Movement from Mysuru to Kolkata

Container Corporation of India Ltd (Concor) has launched its inaugural domestic container movement from Mysuru in Karnataka to Kolkata in West Bengal, marking a new rail corridor for trade between South India and the eastern region.

The milestone is aimed at providing shippers in and around Mysuru with a more efficient, cost-effective alternative to road transport for exporting goods to ports and markets in the east.

The first consignment travelled by rail from Mysuru to Kolkata, where it will be further distributed to consignees in West Bengal and adjoining states, with Concor positioning the service to support exports of agricultural produce, processed foods, engineering goods and other manufactured items from the Mysuru hinterland.[source:indiashippingnews] The new link is expected to enhance connectivity for exporters and importers in the region, reduce logistics costs and transit time, and strengthen Concor’s network of domestic rail container services across India.
