[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Container Corporation of India has joined hands with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust to speed up the clearance of imports booked under the direct port delivery program.

“CONCOR, with the active support of customs and port authorities, has taken the initiative to provide ample number of trains for speedy evacuation of containers from JN Port. The trains are provided before the actual discharge of containers from vessels so that they can be loaded directly from vessels to CONCOR trains,” the State-owned logistics provider said in a trade advisory recently.

With Direct Port Delivery (DPD) services, shippers are able to save substantially on storage charges by port authorities; containers are required to be removed within 48 hours of landing at the port, which is the Country’s largest. JNPT aims to process 70 per cent of its total inbound traffic through DPD in fiscal year 2017 to 2018, which begins April 1, as part of a larger Government scheme to decongest ports and lower shipper costs.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
