CONCOR has launched its first containerised rail movement of edible salt for ITC and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL), marking an important step in domestic rail logistics.
The shipment was loaded on 28 June 2026 and reflects the growing use of containerised rail transport for bulk consumer and industrial cargo. The move highlights how rail-based logistics can support more efficient and structured cargo movement for major FMCG companies.
Milestone For Rail Logistics
This first movement is significant because it expands the use of containers for a commodity that has traditionally depended heavily on road transport. Containerisation offers better handling, improved protection for cargo, and greater operational efficiency across the supply chain.
For companies such as ITC and HUL, this development can support more reliable and scalable transportation for edible salt movement. It also fits into the broader shift toward multimodal logistics in India.
