December 1, 2020: PCS 1x has really driven the transition from the old paper-based regime to data exchanges via electronic medium between two entities. Further from traditional old-fashioned EDI based pro-tocol, PCS 1x has been in forefront by enabling the near real-time exchange of data between different stakeholders via API (Application Programming Interface). As on date, more than 20 container freight stations (CFS) and inland container depots (ICDs) in different parts of the na-tion have gone live on API with PCS 1x.
In addition to the 12 CFSs and ICDs which went live in September,10 more CFSs have gone live on API with PCS 1x. Custodians in Maharashtra that took the move to API integrations and went live include of Seabird Marine Services Pvt. Ltd., 3 Units of Navkar Corporation Ltd at (1, 2 & 3), JWC Logistics Park, JWR Logistic Pvt. Ltd., Speedy Multimodes Ltd. as well as Transworld Terminals Pvt. Ltd, 2 units of CENTURYPLY CFS (Sonai & JJP) at Kolkata. In ad-dition, United Liner Agencies of India Pvt. Ltd. (MICT), Hind Terminal CFS at JNPT; Mundra Container Freight Station Pvt. Ltd. (MICT), Mundra are expected to go live soon.
Many other custodians across India are at varying stages with the move to API with PCS 1x.They are closely working with the teams at Indian Port Association (IPA) and J M BAXI GROUP’s Portall to go live on API with the Port Community System (PCS 1x).

The current data exchange on PCS 1x includes transfer of Customs related messages like IGM, Bill of Entry (BOE), Out of Charge, Shipping Bill and Let Export Order (LEO), and Cargo relat-ed messages of Delivery Order along with Container Gate In / Out Report and Equipment Inter-change Report. This data exchange is possible in real time on PCS 1x via API (Application Pro-gramming Interface) which translates digital messages facilitating safe & meaningful exchange of information to stakeholders interacting on or via PCS 1x.

The deployment of API across a range of international logistics functions is an encouraging step to embrace more efficient means of system-to-system communication and the partnership of PCS 1x with the CFSs and ICDs. With this shift to API, it surely enhances its service offerings and foster a close bond with the distribution facilities.
