India’s drive to become a global manufacturing hub has reached a significant new milestone with Daifuku Intralogistics India commissioning its first stacker crane fully designed and manufactured within the country.
Produced at the company’s advanced manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, the 30-metre-high automated stacker crane reflects international engineering benchmarks and strict Japanese quality protocols. The system has been developed to deliver high-precision performance for modern, high-density warehousing applications.
The project forms part of Daifuku’s ₹227 crore investment in India, aimed at expanding domestic manufacturing capabilities in advanced intralogistics solutions. The initiative is also expected to generate skilled employment and deepen localization of automation technologies across key sectors such as automotive, FMCG, food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and e-commerce.
Commenting on the development, Asim Behera, Chief Executive Officer of Daifuku Intralogistics India, highlighted that the achievement demonstrates the successful integration of global engineering expertise with Indian manufacturing talent, enabling the delivery of world-class automation solutions from within India.
Daifuku’s presence in India dates back to 2005, followed by the acquisition of Vega Conveyors in 2019. The commissioning of the Hyderabad manufacturing hub represents the latest step in the company’s long-term strategy to support the country’s evolving warehousing and logistics ecosystem.
Industry observers view the launch as a strong endorsement of India’s growing capabilities in warehouse automation and high-bay storage systems, reinforcing the objectives of the Make in India initiative and setting the stage for further advancements in indigenous intralogistics manufacturing.
