Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) at Kandla has etched a historic feat by achieving the fastest-ever 125 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo handling in the ongoing FY 2025-26, outpacing previous records and solidifying its position as India’s top-performing major port.
This surge underscores DPA’s operational excellence, driven by enhanced infrastructure, strategic berth expansions, and efficient multimodal logistics integration. The port’s rapid throughput—surpassing the 100 MMT mark earlier than any other major port—reflects booming trade volumes in dry bulk, containers, and liquids amid India’s export growth.
Key factors include new cranes, deepened drafts, and digital upgrades that boosted average turnaround times and vessel productivity. As Gujarat’s logistics powerhouse, DPA supports national goals for port-led development, benefiting exporters in minerals, agri-commodities, and energy sectors. Officials project sustained momentum toward 140 MMT annually, reinforcing India’s maritime competitiveness.
