The Directorate General of Maritime Administration and the Institute of Marine Engineers (India) have signed an Institutional Support Agreement aimed at strengthening India’s engagement at the International Maritime Organization on maritime decarbonisation and sustainability.
What does the Institutional Support Agreement cover?
The collaboration will provide technical, legal and analytical support for India’s submissions and interventions at IMO forums, with particular focus on maritime decarbonisation, alternative fuels, greenhouse gas reduction measures and lifecycle assessment. The partnership will also facilitate stakeholder coordination to support evidence-based policymaking on issues taken up at the Marine Environment Protection Committee and related IMO sub-committees.
