DP World has opened emergency land service corridors to and from Jebel Ali to keep cargo moving as the West Asia conflict disrupts some sea movements and briefly forced a precautionary pause at Dubai’s flagship port.
After a short suspension of operations at Jebel Ali announced around 1 March as a safety measure, DP World has confirmed that all terminals are now operating normally with enhanced security, even as global carriers reroute ships to avoid the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz. To support customers whose cargo flows are impacted, the company has introduced overland corridors linking Jebel Ali with key regional hubs such as Dammam and other inland points, offering alternative routings for containers that cannot move on original sea legs due to schedule changes or vessel diversions.
The land link initiative is designed to maintain supply chain continuity for shippers that use Jebel Ali as a transhipment and distribution hub for the Middle East, South Asia and East Africa, even as war‑risk surcharges and longer sea routes add time and cost to movements. DP World said it remains in close coordination with UAE authorities and is prioritising safety while providing flexible multimodal options to minimise disruption for customers.
