Two intermodal rail services have been added by Maritime Transport to connect the DP World London Gateway with its inland terminals at iPort Doncaster and Hams Hall. The new services, which run Monday through Saturday, started in collaboration with GB Railfreight. They were introduced in response to increasing traffic at the DP World London Gateway, where a port capacity expansion project worth £1 billion ($1.3 billion) is scheduled to begin this month.
Rail transport not only boosts our economy but also lowers emissions and helps the UK make the transition to more environmentally friendly modes of transportation. When freight is transported by rail rather than by road, carbon emissions are reduced by 76%. These innovative services, which provide useful, lower-carbon alternatives to roads that benefit the entire supply chain, are an excellent illustration of what sustained cooperation can accomplish.
As the need for robust, integrated supply chain solutions grows, DP World recently said that it will invest $2.5 billion in significant infrastructure projects in Europe, South America, Africa, and India.
