Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has crossed the 50 million metric tonne cargo mark, reaching the milestone 19 days ahead of the previous year. The port has emerged as the fastest among India’s major ports to achieve this level in the current financial year.
Strong cargo momentum
The milestone reflects sustained growth in cargo handling at Kandla across multiple commodity segments. Earlier reports also noted that the port handled 160.11 million metric tonnes in FY 2025-26, the highest volume ever recorded by any major Indian port.infra.economictimes.
Kandla’s performance has been supported by operational efficiency, higher throughput and continued focus on large-scale cargo movement. The port’s recent record of handling 775,251 tonnes in a single day also points to its strong handling capability.
Port growth outlook
The achievement reinforces DPA Kandla’s position as a leading gateway for bulk and liquid cargo on India’s west coast. It also highlights the port authority’s continued push toward higher annual cargo volumes and improved productivity.
