Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla Authority (DPA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (DMRC), BEML LTD., and Umeandus Technologies India Private Limited for developing a next-generation cargo evacuation system at the port.

Under the MoU, DMRC and BEML will bring their proven expertise in large-scale infrastructure and equipment manufacturing, while UMEANDUS — a technology innovator — will provide an automated cargo evacuation solution designed for both bulk and containerized cargo.

This pioneering system is set to transform port logistics by eliminating the traditional dependence on berth-based operations and enabling seamless, automatic cargo exchange between sea and shore. The system also mitigates draft limitations along the coastline by extending operational capability into deeper waters.

Deployable across both brownfield and greenfield ports, the technology promises to enhance port capacity several-fold, improve turnaround times, and reduce environmental impact. Several other Indian ports are also exploring adoption of this breakthrough solution.
