The Hansalink 3 project linking the German port of Lübeck-Travemünde and the Port of Helsinki has received a total of €22 million in co-funding from the European Commission. About €12 million is the Port of Helsinki’s portion of the assistance. Building state-of-the-art port infrastructure, implementing digital tools, and optimizing passenger and freight traffic at the port area are all part of the project.

Furthermore, the project involves the construction of automated mooring systems at the Ports of Helsinki and Lübeck-Travemünde, as well as onshore power supply options appropriate for the new Finnlines ships. The project is anticipated to be finished by the end of 2027 and has a total budget of €45 million.

The EU partnership between Helsinki and Lübeck-Travemünde, which began in 2014, is being carried on via the Hansalink 3 project. The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) instrument provides co-funding for it.
