Folk Maritime has launched a new standalone container service linking India and the Red Sea, adding another direct option for shippers moving cargo between the two markets. The new India-Red Sea (IRS) service is being operated with three vessels of around 1,900 TEU capacity each and connects Jeddah with India’s west coast via Mundra and Nhava Sheva.

The IRS rotation is Jeddah, Mundra, Nhava Sheva and back to Jeddah. It will run alongside Folk Maritime’s existing IRM service, which is jointly operated with CU Lines and Marsa Ocean and serves Jeddah, Djibouti, Nhava Sheva, Mundra and then returns to Jeddah.

The addition of the IRS service strengthens carrier connectivity between India and the Red Sea region, while also giving customers an extra routing choice for container cargo. For shippers, the expanded network may improve scheduling flexibility and support trade flows on a lane that remains strategically important for Indian exports and imports.
