North-West India and the US East Coast are now connected by a new direct shipping service that has started operations from DP World Mundra. Improving trade connectivity between the two regions is the goal of this endeavour.

The MECL service was recently launched when the M.V. MAERSK ATLANTA made its first port call at DP World Mundra. Enhancing transit times and promoting bilateral trade between India and the US East Coast are the goals of this service.

Port stops at Houston, Norfolk, Newark, Port Tangier Mediterranean, Salalah, Jebel Ali, Charleston North, and Savannah are all part of the MECL service. Because of the high demand from the US East Coast, industries in India, including textiles, medicines, handicrafts, and machinery components, are anticipated to profit from this new channel.

The launch of this direct service from DP World Mundra highlights initiatives to improve commerce and promote economic development between the US and India. By offering more reliable port operations and more effective maritime routes, it is expected to help India’s growing involvement in international trade. Multimodal logistical capabilities enable the service to effortlessly integrate with India’s rail and road networks.

This makes it possible for companies in Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh, among other Indian states, to use the new route for effective freight transportation. With a 632-meter quay, a deep draft for big ships, and a 50-acre container freight station with dedicated rail connectivity, the DP World Mundra port is built to make cargo transit easy. The goal of this infrastructure is to give Indian importers and exporters quicker and more dependable access to global markets.
