The Great Eastern Shipping Company has contracted to buy a secondhand Long Range 2 (LR2) tanker of about 110,000 dwt, according to market reports. The acquisition adds to the company’s ongoing fleet expansion and renewal programme, which has recently included multiple purchases and sales across its tanker and dry bulk segments. The vessel will strengthen GE Shipping’s presence in the product tanker market and support its broader strategy of maintaining a modern, diversified fleet.
The company has also acquired Medium Range (MR) product tanker named Jag Prabhu, adding to its fleet of liquid bulk carriers. The acquisition supports the company’s ongoing strategy of fleet modernisation and diversification across its tanker and dry bulk segments.
The MR tanker will operate in GE Shipping’s product tanker portfolio, transporting refined petroleum products and other liquid cargoes. The vessel joins the company’s growing fleet of modern tankers aimed at improving operational efficiency and market competitiveness in the global product tanker market.
The delivery reflects GE Shipping’s continued focus on expanding its tanker capacity while maintaining a balanced asset portfolio across different vessel types and market segments.
