The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd (GE Shipping) has entered into an agreement to sell its very large gas carrier (VLGC) Jag Vishnu, continuing its strategy of active fleet renewal and capital optimisation.

In a regulatory filing, the company said the vessel—built in 2002 with a cargo carrying capacity of approximately 77,922 cubic metres—has been contracted for sale to an unrelated third party. The agreement was executed on December 26, 2025, with delivery of the vessel scheduled for the fourth quarter of FY26.

Post completion of the transaction, GE Shipping’s owned fleet will comprise 39 vessels with a combined capacity of around 3.17 million deadweight tonnes. The fleet will include 25 tankers—covering crude oil tankers, product tankers and LPG carriers—and 14 dry bulk vessels spread across the Capesize, Kamsarmax and Supramax categories.

The company also disclosed that it has planned additional fleet movements during the same period. GE Shipping has contracted to acquire one second-hand VLGC and one second-hand Ultramax dry bulk carrier, while simultaneously agreeing to divest a Kamsarmax dry bulk vessel, Jag Aarati. All these transactions are expected to be concluded in the fourth quarter of FY26.

According to the company, the sale of Jag Vishnu is in line with its broader objective of refining fleet composition, improving asset efficiency and optimising capital allocation across its shipping segments.
