Goa is set to miss the October 31 deadline for submitting its maritime and waterways master plan, covering the state’s 105 km coastline and river network, as the project management consultant is yet to be appointed. The plan is now expected to be completed by December, Captain of Ports Octavio Rodrigues said at the India Maritime Week 2025 roadshow.
“We have already selected the consultant and will bring them on board within a week. Only then can we begin drafting the master plan, which is essential to secure central government funding,” Rodrigues said.
A coordination committee of state departments and authorities has been formed to oversee the project. Key focus areas include upgrading river transport with Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax ferries, introducing water taxis, boosting the blue economy, supporting fisheries, promoting green fuels, and developing marine fuel stations.
