Goa has designated the Captain of Ports to function as the Goa Maritime Board under the Indian Ports Act, 2025. The move is aimed at modernising the state’s port administration and giving the department greater statutory autonomy.
What changes now
The notification also appoints the Captain of Ports as conservator for all minor ports in Goa, with the changes taking effect immediately after publication. The new framework is expected to strengthen oversight of safety, navigation and infrastructure across Goa’s inland waterways and minor ports.
