Singapore-based liner operator Greta Shipping has rolled out a new regional shuttle service connecting Oman with East Africa, further extending its emerging network footprint.
Market data from DynaLiners shows that the newly launched RS1 service provides a weekly connection between the Port of Salalah and Djibouti. While branded as RS1, the service does not operate within the Red Sea itself, instead serving as a dedicated shuttle linking the Arabian Sea with the Horn of Africa.
Operations have commenced with a container vessel of about 1,000 teu. Greta Shipping has indicated that capacity on the route will be increased to roughly 1,700 teu once volumes build up, underlining expectations of rising cargo demand between the two regions.
The RS1 launch represents another incremental expansion for Greta Shipping as it strengthens regional trade links and positions itself in niche corridors across the Middle East and East Africa.
