The Supervisory Board of Hapag-Lloyd has prolonged the contract of the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr Maximilian Rothkopf, by five years, until 30 April 2027.

Rothkopf was appointed to the Executive Board of Hapag-Lloyd on 1 May 2019 and two months later he took over the responsibility for the company as COO, replacing Anthony J. Firmin.

He started his career in 2005 at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he was a member of the global Travel, Transport and Logistics (TTL) leadership team and became a Partner in 2014. During these years he has particularly provided advice to larger liner shipping companies, airlines and numerous other globally operating logistics companies.

Earlier in 2004, Rothkopf achieved his master’s degree in business administration at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (LMU) and completed his doctorate in economic sciences at the European Business School, Oestrich-Winkel, in 2008.

“With responsibility for the vessel and container fleets, global trade management and Information technology (IT), he and his team continue to be forced to shoulder much heavier workloads as a result of the coronavirus pandemic,” said Michael Behrendt, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Hapag-Lloyd AG.

“By extending his contract, the Supervisory Board is acknowledging the excellent work that Maximilian Rothkopf has performed over the past two years,” added Behrendt.
