Hapag-Lloyd has signed a multi-year agreement with Shell for the supply of bio-LNG, effective immediately. Since 2024, Shell has expanded its LNG offering to include bio-LNG, now available at 22 locations across its global bunkering network.
This agreement ensures fuel certainty and supply reliability, allowing us to expand the use of waste-based renewable fuels across our fleet—cutting emissions without compromising service quality. The fuel supplied to Hapag-Lloyd is ISCC EU certified, ensuring sustainable feedstock production, supply chain traceability, and verified life-cycle emission reductions. Produced from organic waste such as crop residues, livestock manure, and food waste, biogas is upgraded to biomethane, liquefied, and delivered to vessels on a mass-balance basis.
