Gujarat-based frozen food major HyFun Foods has taken a significant step in transforming its export logistics by launching India’s first dedicated reefer rail corridor for frozen potato products. The initiative has been rolled out in partnership with Adani Logistics Ltd and Evergreen Marine Corporation, combining rail and sea transport into a seamless cold-chain export pipeline.

The reefer rail service connects the inland container depot (ICD) at Virochannagar in Gujarat to Mundra Port, which is operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ). From Mundra, international shipments are handled by Evergreen Marine Corporation, one of the world’s leading container shipping lines. The inaugural dedicated train service was officially flagged off this week, marking a landmark moment for cold-chain logistics in India’s agri-export sector.

One of the standout features of the initiative is its environmental and operational efficiency — each train movement is estimated to replace up to 40 individual road trips, delivering meaningful reductions in fuel consumption, logistics costs, and carbon emissions. This positions the corridor not just as a commercial upgrade but also as part of HyFun’s broader sustainability agenda.

The launch forms a key pillar of HyFun’s larger integrated multi-modal logistics strategy, which combines road, rail, and sea transportation to create a more resilient and scalable export supply chain. The company currently exports to more than 40 countries across global markets and has ambitious plans to expand its international presence to over 100 countries in the coming years.

Kamlesh Karamchandani, Group Executive Director at HyFun Foods, said the collaboration would “further strengthen our export capabilities by enabling more efficient and sustainably reliable export operations,” adding that the initiative directly supports the company’s vision of becoming a truly global frozen food brand.
