Prof. Debjit Roy from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has clinched the prestigious Wickham Skinner Early-Career Research Accomplishments Award from the Manufacturing and Service Operations Management (MSOM) Society, spotlighting his pioneering work in logistics and transport systems.

The global accolade recognizes Roy’s stochastic modeling and optimization research on container terminals, automated warehouses, trucking, and service systems like restaurants—published in top journals including Operations Research and IISE Transactions. As founding co-chair of IIMA’s Centre for Transportation and Logistics (CTL), he drives multidisciplinary efforts to cut costs, boost multimodal efficiency, and promote sustainable supply chains.

Roy’s innovations, including AGV designs for ports and robotized storage, align with India’s logistics push under the National Logistics Policy, enhancing port ops at hubs like JNPA and Vadhvan. Past honors include INFORMS awards (2022), IIMA Outstanding Researcher (2018, 2020), and InsideIIM Professor of the Year (2020).
