Operations at the Benapole-Petrapole land port have not been impacted by the continuing conflict between India and Pakistan. The movement of passport holders between the two nations and import-export operations are both going on as normal. But according to reports, the Border Security Force (BSF) has stepped up security and is searching anyone who seem suspicious at the border.
Between morning and 1pm, about 200 passengers went between the two nations, while during that same period, about 230 vehicles moved cargo through the Benapole-Petrapole port. According to a number of Indian tourists, BSF surveillance has risen, and suspicious individuals and their bags are being carefully examined at the border.
In the meantime, technological problems with the web link system at India’s Petrapole customs and port offices are interfering with import-export activities at the port. On Saturday and Sunday, only 150 and 34 trucks of goods were imported, respectively, but on Monday and Tuesday, the figures rose to 332 and 431 trucks. 596 trucks were used to export products to India through Benapole port between Saturday and Tuesday.
However, customs office is unable to use the web system because to Petrapole’s internet outage. Alternatively, Wi-Fi-enabled tablets are being used for minimal processing. Only a small percentage of new consignments are now processed online; the trucks that are currently coming were pre-registered under the previous online system.
