As part of a government-led initiative to strengthen international collaborations in the industry, Indian maritime businesses signed agreements for shipbuilding and technological collaboration at the Nor-Shipping conference in Oslo. A memorandum of intent for the building of four multipurpose vessels was signed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) and Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler und Rehder GmbH & Co KG of Germany. This is one of the important agreements. The ships will adhere to cutting-edge cybersecurity standards and have hybrid propulsion systems.
Norway’s DNV and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) inked a comprehensive collaboration. Shipbuilding, offshore and maritime projects, port infrastructure expansion, energy systems, industrial and smart infrastructure, ESG compliance, cybersecurity, risk services, and digital platforms are all covered by the partnership.
The deals were signed during the official visit of Union minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal to the Norway pavilion. Since June 2, Sonowal has been on a five-day trip to Norway and Denmark, leading a business delegation of Indian maritime firms.
Companies in the delegation include L&T Shipbuilding, Yeoman Marine Services, Smart Engineering & Design Solutions (SEDS), Chowgule Shipbuilding Division, Goa Shipyard Limited, Mandovi Dockyards, Synergy Shipbuilders, Varya Tech Pvt Ltd, Marine Electricals, Buoyancy Consultants, Shoft Shipyard, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), and Swan Defence & Heavy Industries.
