JNPCT, port owned container terminal handled 1,22,384 TEUs in Sep’16 and 7,80,375 TEUs in April-September’16 recording growth of 10.42% over April-September last year. The pre-berthing waiting time at JNPCT on Port a/c reduced to 0.03 days from 0.09 days in August 2016.

Inter Terminal transfer of Tractor Trailers: In September’ 2016, total of 19712 trucks used this facility completing 22748 transactions. After the implementation of Inter-Terminal Transfer of TTs in Feb’ 2015, allowing sideways movements between all three terminals, total of 281,783 trucks with 346,680 transactions have availed this facility till Sept’ 16. As the TTs are now completing two commercial transactions per trip instead of one, this has resulted in reduction of 8-10% TT traffic on port roads leading to cost saving to the tune of Rs. 80-90 crores for the trade through optimal utilization of transport resources, considering each transaction costs Rs.2500/-

Direct Port Delivery facility (DPD): In September DPD volume of 6904 TEUs was handled by JNPort, which is the highest till date.
Month on Month the DPD volume is increasing along with the number of clients availing this facility. Number of ACP clients availing DPD facility increased to 47 from 11 clients signed between Feb 2007 & Jan 2016. Through this facility, importers can get directly delivery of their consignments, enabling importers to save on transaction time and cost saving of approx. Rs.25,000-Rs.40,000/- per TEU. This facility was started in Feb 2007 on minimum volume criteria and as a path breaking initiative under “Ease of Doing Business” the minimum volume criteria was removed in February 2016.
